old-reliable
Originally designed by John M. Browning and built by the Winchester Firearms Co. the 1885 Lowwall and Highwall rifles are considered to be the pinnacle of single-shot rifle design. Mr. Browning was able to draw on his long experience of working with earlier single-shot rifle designs when he set out to build a design of his own. The new 1885 action was trim, elegant in appearance, and strong in construction. It incorporated both a rebounding hammer for safety and an action that cocked on the closing of the finger lever making it ideally suited for both hunting and competition.

C. Sharps Arms Co. is proud to offer a reproduction of the 1885 rifle in both Low Wall and High Wall configurations. Our 1885 rifles are built from the highest quality raw materials sourced from suppliers in the U.S.A. The receivers are CNC machined from 8620 billet steel and then hand-finished to the highest level of quality. We feel that our 1885 Rifles are the best rifles of their type on the market today and are equal to the originals in every way.

The 1885 Low Wall was designed as a target and light hunting rifle. The 1885 Low Wall provides excellent access to the breach of the rifle making for easy loading and unloading. The 1885 Low Wall is not suitable for high-pressure cartridges.
